Shopping Cap Hit at Indiana Michigan Power

The 10% electric shopping cap has been reached at Indiana Michigan Power (AEP), going from zero competitively served load to a fully subscribed cap in just over one month.
I&M had not historically seen shopping activity.
However, the Michigan PSC previously noted that certain customers were preparing to take competitive supply this spring, and I&M received its first customer enrollment for competitive supply on April 10, 2012.
After completion of the enrollment, I&M had its first customer served by an alternative electric supplier on May 14, 2012.
Current enrollments in I&M's service territory now exceed the 10% cap prescribed by MCL 460.10a(1)(a).
The 2012 I&M shopping cap is 283,927 MWh. Current active allotments awarded to and served by an alternative electric supplier are 146 MWh.
Awarded allotments, not yet served by an alternative electric supplier, are 281,846 MWh.
Total load in the queue is 30,103 MWh.
Awarded choice load plus load deferred to the queue is 312,095 MWh, or in excess of the 10% limit.
There are currently two registered alternative electric suppliers in I&M's Michigan service territory.
