Nstar Boston Edison Territory Sees Slower Growth in Residential Shopping

After seeing a large jump in migration of residential electric customers to competitive supply during March, Nstar's Boston Edison saw more measured growth in residential shopping during April, according to the latest DPU stats.

During April, Nstar's Boston Edison territory saw the number of non-low income residential electric customers on competitive supply increase by 1,000 versus the March total. This is down from the growth of 5,700 non-low income residential shoppers seen during March.

Additionally, during April, Boston Edison saw the number of low income residential customers on competitive supply increase by 454, versus the month-ago growth of 366.

Nstar's Commonwealth Electric territory continued to see a net decline in the number of non-low income residential customers on competitive electric supply during April, but the loss of shoppers was much lower than in recent months. During April, Commonwealth Electric saw a loss of 79 of non-low income residential customers on competitive electric supply, versus the loss of about 400 such customers during each of the months of March and February.

Furthermore, Commonwealth Electric saw the number of low income residential customers on competitive supply increase by 177 during April.

National Grid's Massachusetts Electric territory saw the number of non-low income residential electric customers on competitive electric supply increase by about 3,000 during April, about even with the March growth. Massachusetts Electric saw the number of low income residential customers on competitive supply increase by 1,600 during April, versus the March growth of 1,100.

During April, Western Massachusetts Electric Company saw the number of non-low income residential electric customers on competitive electric supply increase by 850, versus the March growth of 1,100.

Additionally, WMECO saw the number of low income residential customers on competitive supply increase by 1,300 during April.
