The District of Columbia PSC opened Formal Case 1098 to investigate retail electricity suppliers' access to their customers' smart meter data.

As first reported by Matters, Washington Gas Energy Services had petitioned for such a proceeding addressing, among other things, billing, settlement, communication, and data issues affecting retail suppliers, and their existing customers, in an advanced meter environment.

The PSC scheduled a technical conference for July 31, at which Pepco is to address the questions raised by WGES.

Pepco was directed to file a Post Technical Conference Report within thirty days of the technical conference. Attendees of the technical conference may file exceptions to Pepco's Post Technical Conference Report within ten days of Pepco filing the report.
