TXU Energy Launches Android App for Bill Payment, Other Services
TXU Energy has launched an app for Android smart phones. Similar to the company's previously released iPhone app, the Android app allows customers to pay bills, review usage, compare previous bills, and set holds on their thermostats if they use TXU's Brighten iThermostat. TXU Energy charges no fees to download the apps or use the apps for paying bills and other services.
NRG Energy Sells Stake in Non-Core Asset, Cites Retail as a Core Focus for Investment
NRG Energy, Inc. announced yesterday that has sold its minority ownership interest in Schkopau, the 900 MW (400 MW net to NRG) coal-fueled power station near Halle, Germany, to Energeticky a Prumyslovy Holding, a.s. (EPH), a Czech Republic-based coal mining and electricity company, for about $173 million. Notably, David Crane, NRG President and CEO, said of the sale, "given NRG's focus on retail electricity, conventional generation in our core domestic markets, and fast-growing clean energy businesses, we can use the sale of non-core assets like Schkopau to invest in initiatives that leverage our core facilities and operations."
Cirro Energy Expands Houston Office to Support Growing Commercial Sales
Cirro Energy, a subsidiary of Dominion Resources, has expanded its Houston office with a new location to support additional growth in commercial sales. Cirro plans to add staff in the near future, including three commercial sales representatives. Cirro said that the Houston office is responsible for 25% of direct commercial sales, which are up 30% over 2011.
