Direct Energy Launches New Brand New Leaf Energy in Texas

Direct Energy this morning launched a new brand, New Leaf Energy, focused on selling renewable electricity plans in Texas.

The new brand New Leaf Energy had been first reported by Matters.

New Leaf Energy exclusively offers 100% Texas wind plans, with Green-e certification.

Residential offers include fixed rates for 6, 12, and 24 months, plus a variable rate product.

Current rates in the Oncor service area are (based on 1,000 kWh usage):

6 Months: 9.0¢/kWh

12 Months: 8.4¢/kWh

24 Months: 11.9¢/kWh

Variable: 8.7¢/kWh

The 6 month product includes a $150 early termination fee; the 12 month product includes a $200 early termination fee; and the 24 month product includes a $300 early termination fee.
