Direct Energy Launches Texas Electric Plans Sourced from Texas Gas

Direct Energy this morning launched new electricity plans in Texas that are supplied from gas-fired generation which exclusively burn Texas-sourced natural gas.

Named the True Blue Texas Plan, Direct Energy said that the product, supplied by two of Direct's gas-fired power plants in Texas, is sourced from the natural gas wells of Texas' famous King Ranch.

As listed on Power to Choose, current True Blue offerings in the Oncor and CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric service areas is as follows, based on 1,000 kWh usage:

Oncor:
12 Months Fixed @ 10.2¢/kWh
12 Months Fixed, Paperless E-Plan @ 9.7¢/kWh

CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric:
12 Months Fixed @ 10.9¢/kWh
Monthly Variable, currently @ 10.2¢/kWh

Additionally, a monthly variable True Blue plan is available at Oncor, and a discounted 12-month True Blue E-plan is available at CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric, but such offers were not listed on Power to Choose, and EFL pricing at the 1,000 kWh level for such products was not immediately available.

For the fixed products, the 1,000 kWh average rates do not reflect a monthly fee of $9.95 which applies for usage below 999 kWh.

The fixed products also include an early termination fee of $200.
