Washington Gas Light Sees Decrease in Residential Customers on Competitive Supply

Baltimore Gas & Electric saw continued strong growth in the number of residential customers taking competitive natural gas supply during the three months ended September 2012, while Washington Gas Light saw a decline in residential shoppers, according to the latest data from the Maryland PSC.

From June 30, 2012 to September 30, 2012, Baltimore Gas & Electric saw the number of residential gas customers on competitive supply increase by 5,600, versus the growth 9,100 from March 31, 2012 to June 30, 2012.
Some 121,000 residential customers at BGE now take competitive gas supply, or about 20% of eligible accounts
From June 30, 2012 to September 30, 2012 Washington Gas Light saw the number of residential customers on competitive supply decrease by 370 accounts. During this same period, the number of residential accounts eligible for choice decreased by 282 accounts.
For comparison, Washington Gas Light had seen the number of residential customers on competitive supply grow by 1,700 from March 31, 2012 to June 30, 2012.
Some 79,000 residential customers at WGL in Maryland were on competitive gas supply at September 30, 2012, or about 19% of eligible accounts (the percent of eligible residential accounts shopping was unchanged versus June 30, 2012).
