Dayton Power & Light is seeing an increase in residential customers switching, at about 2.5% per month, AES executives said during an earnings call yesterday.

Executives said that this current increase in residential migration has been organic, meaning not the result of municipal aggregations. Municipal aggregation activity is expected to pick up as a new wave of aggregations were approved in this week's election.

Total migration at Dayton Power & Light was 63% of load as of September 2012.

Executives expect end-of-year switching to reach 75%, and eventual long-term saturation at about 86%.

DPL Energy Resources has retained 73% of switched load at affiliate Dayton Power & Light, though at a lower margins.

Outside of the Dayton Power & Light territory, DPL Energy Resources and MC Squared Energy Services are serving more than 150,000 customers, up from 140,000 as of June 30.

By year's end, AES projects that its competitive retail suppliers will be serving approximately 200,000 customers, which represent a net increase of approximately 175,000 in the company's total number of customers during 2012.
