Staff of the Public Utility Commission of Texas have sought comment on a presentation of complaint data intended to be presented to the Commission at the December 13, 2012 Open Meeting.

As a part of its 2010 report on the PUCT, the Sunset Advisory Commission adopted a management action recommending that the Commission publish, on a regular basis, more complaint and enforcement data on its website. The Sunset Commission also recommended that the public be given an opportunity to comment on this information.

Staff has filed in Project 40872 summary information on enforcement actions and customer complaint data for fiscal year 2012.

Among other things, the data identifies the total number of complaints received by month, the percent of complaints by type, the percent of complaints resulting in refunds, and average amount of refund.

An enforcement activity report is also included, listing the amount of each penalty imposed by the Commission on REPs and various other entities during the year.
