Former TXU and Texas Commercial Energy Execs Launching Retail Provider

Empiric Marketing & Sales, LLC d/b/a BusinessMODERN has applied for a District of Columbia electric supplier license as a power marketer and marketer of electricity purchasing and taking title to electricity as an intermediary for sale to customers.

BusinessMODERN applied to serve residential customers.

BusinessMODERN currently offers various consulting services in a variety of business fields, including retail and energy, to help companies address globalization, rising costs, and competitive market forces.

Therese Tetzel, President and CEO of BusinessMODERN, has over 25 years of marketing and sales experience among three multinational companies, most notably TXU Energy, as well as Occidental Petroleum and Quaker State.

"While leading TXU's sales team through deregulation, the team was twice awarded the EEI National Account Award by representatives of the top 600 US commercial and retail companies," Tetzel's bio states.

Since leaving the corporate ranks, Tetzel has consulted for numerous firms operating in the telecommunications, government, retail, oil and gas, energy, publishing, chemicals, plastic and not for profit industries.

Darwin Lau serves as CFO of BusinessMODERN. Lau previously served as CFO for Bridgepoint Power & Light, and prior to Bridgepoint, Lau served as COO of Texas Commercial Energy, LLC. Prior to joining TCE, Lau served as the director of risk management for TXU Energy.
