A new website has been launched for utility CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric LLC at www.CenterPointElectric.com.
In conjunction with the launch, the content from the utility's former homepage (www.CenterPointEnergy.com/services/electricity) has been migrated to the new domain.
There is no link on CenterPointElectric.com to myTrueCost.com, the online retail energy shopping portal run by affiliate CenterPoint Energy Services, Inc., or vice versa, CenterPoint said.
The parent company's website at CenterPointEnergy.com contains a page where visitors can choose to either go to CenterPointElectric.com or myTrueCost.com.
CenterPoint said that the change was not driven by claims from retail providers that the former arrangement implicated several PURA and Substantive Rule prohibitions on affiliate conduct
"These website changes were not driven by Petitioners' assertions in this docket [40636]. As we will detail in our brief, the prior website design fully complied with all applicable law and expectations with respect to separation of electric utility and competitive affiliate operations. In short, under the old design, there were no links between CenterPoint Houston's webpages and the TrueCost website," CenterPoint said.
