The Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority has assigned Docket No. 13-02-08 for an investigation into Public Power LLC's trade practices.

According to the "Reason for Request" attached to the request for the docket number, "In recent months the Authority has received a spike in customer 'slamming' complaints against Public Power LLC."

"An investigation is necessary to determine whether Public Power is engaged in slamming practices in violation of Connecticut Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices Act," the Reason for Request states.

Nothing substantive has yet been filed in the docket.

Public Power LLC provided the following statement to Matters:

"Public Power is focused on being a conscientious and customer service-oriented company in the retail energy industry. All of our employees and sales associates participate in training programs which outline the appropriate ways to introduce customers to our company and provide direction to ensure best practices are part of every interaction with our customers. We do not condone slamming or any similar practice and any cases of a breach in our customer service standards, protocols or policies will be met with disciplinary action including dismissal."
