Duke Energy Ohio to Make Smart Meter Customer Lists Available to Retail Suppliers

Duke Energy Ohio has agreed to provide to retail suppliers a list of eligible customers who have provisioned advanced meters.

Specifically, as part of an electric rate case settlement, Duke Energy Ohio has agreed to provide to competitive retail electric suppliers (CRES), upon request and on a quarterly basis, names and addresses from the eligible customer list (meaning customers who have not opted out of having their information provided to CRES) where Duke Energy Ohio has installed a Smart Meter/AMI with two-way interval data communication capabilities.

Under the stipulation, Duke Energy Ohio will provide the first of the quarterly lists by June 1, 2013.

Duke Energy Ohio shall also promptly update its eligible customer list [PUCO Electric No. 20, Sheet No. 36.6, Section 7.3(d)(xii)] to indicate which customers have a Smart Meter/AMI installed.

The settlement was signed by Duke Energy Ohio, Inc., the Office of the Ohio Consumers' Counsel (OCC), Commission Staff, Direct Energy Services, LLC and Direct Energy Business, LLC, and the Ohio Energy Group, among others
