The New York PSC has approved the acquisition of CH Energy Group Inc., owner of Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corporation, by Fortis, Inc.

A written order was not immediately issued, and it was unclear how the PSC adjudicated the issue of ESCO versus default service cost comparisons, which was included in a joint proposal in the case.

The PSC in a news release said that it adopted the terms of a joint proposal, but it was unclear if such adoption was comprehensive for all terms of the JP.

Specifically, the JP called for the inclusion ESCO versus shadow-billed default service cost comparisons on Central Hudson consolidated bills for residential customers on retail access.

A recommended decision, however, recommended denying this provision of the JP, finding it to be premature and better addressed in the generic retail market investigation.

Central Hudson already provides an online bill comparison for ESCO and shadow-billed default service costs.
