Direct Energy Launches Residential Service in New Territory

Direct Energy recently began offering residential natural gas service at Nicor Gas in Illinois.
It's actually a return to active marketing in the territory, which Direct Energy first entered in 2005, but ceased active marketing to new customers in mid-2006
Direct Energy is offering Nicor residential customers a 12-month fixed rate of 54.9¢ per therm, with no cancellation fee.
A 12-month fixed price of 53.9¢ per therm is available from Direct for seniors and military personnel, with no cancellation fee.
Direct Energy said that it is planning to actively re-enter the Peoples Gas and North Shore Gas markets in Illinois in the near future, which it also first entered in 2005 but ceased marketing to new customers in mid-2006.
