New Retail Provider to Enter Georgia Firm Service Natural Gas Market

A new retail natural gas provider is planning to enter the Georgia firm service natural gas market.

Specifically, Colonial Energy, Inc. has applied for a natural gas marketer certificate from the Georgia PSC.

Colonial currently markets to interruptible natural gas customers in the State of Georgia.

Colonial is filing its application so that it can expand its service in Georgia to firm service commercial and industrial customers.

Effective January 1, 2013, Colonial Energy acquired natural gas marketer Utility Service Group of Clarksville, Georgia. This acquisition expanded Colonial Energy’s Eastern U.S. footprint and adds the experienced USG staff to the Colonial Energy team. USG, now known as Colonial Energy, Inc d/b/a Utility Service Group, currently serves only interruptible industrial accounts in the State of Georgia.

Colonial Energy currently markets natural gas to electric and gas utilities, large industrial, institutional, and governmental customers in the following states: Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina & Georgia.

Sales volumes are approximately 60 bcf/year
