PECO Joins Other Pennsylvania EDCs Seeing Reversal of Residential Shopping Losses After Starting Referral Program

PECO has become the latest Pennsylvania electric distribution company to see a turnaround in residential migration to competitive supply after launching a standard offer customer referral program, according to the latest stats from the PUC
PECO had been seeing a consistent weekly decline in residential shopping, but from August 21 to August 27, PECO saw the number of residential customers on competitive supply increase by 233. This compares to the week-ago loss of 344 residential shoppers.
PECO's standard offer customer referral program began on August 19.
Duquesne Light is now the only Pennsylvania EDC seeing a weekly loss in residential migration, having seen a decline of about 500 residential shoppers over the most recent week.
Statewide, from about August 22 to August 28 (reporting date varies slightly by utility), Pennsylvania saw residential electric shopping increase by an aggregate of about 4,100 accounts, essentially even with the week-ago growth.
