A start-up retail supplier is preparing to offer retail electric and natural gas supply service.
Specifically, Platinum Energy, LLC has sought market-based rate authority from FERC.
In its MBR application, Platinum Energy, LLC said that it, "intends to act as a retail energy supplier in various jurisdictions in the United States," and, "seeks to obtain authorization to sell electricity and natural gas at retail in various state jurisdictions and regional transmission organization territories."
Currently, Platinum Energy, LLC does not supply electricity, or natural gas, to retail customers.

"Another entity, Platinum Plus Energy Resources is an Energy Services Company with a similar name, but a completely separate entity wholly-owned by family member [sic] of two of the Company Officers. Platinum Energy, LLC and Platinum Plus Energy Resources are not affiliates. With the exception of a common address, there is no legal relationship between the two entities. Each is under different control, different management and different ownership."
