Three New York Utilities, Including ConEd, See Decline in Residential Customers on Competitive Supply in Most Recent Stats

The New York PSC has newly posted electric migration statistics for the months of May and June 2013, and the data show a decline in the number of residential accounts on competitive supply at Consolidated Edison, NYSEG, and Rochester Gas & Electric from May 2013 to June 2013.
Specifically, from May 2013 to June 2013, ConEd saw a decline of 1,900 residential electric customers on competitive supply, resulting in a total of 731,000 residential shopping accounts. Despite this decline, the percent of residential shoppers increased marginally (from 26.2% to 26.3%), as ConEd saw total distribution accounts decrease at a faster rate during the same period.
Residential migration at ConEd as of June 2012 had been 684,000 accounts.
Niagara Mohawk saw an increase of 3,000 residential electric shoppers from May 2013 to June 2013, with total shopping as of June 2013 standing at 275,000 accounts, or 18.9%.
NYSEG and RGE each saw a marginal decline in shopping from May 2013 to June 2013, while Central Hudson and Orange and Rockland each saw marginal growth.
