Gas Marketer With 1.6 Million Customers to Enter Retail Electric Supply Business

Seminole Retail Energy Services, LLC will soon enter the retail electricity supply business, it said in an application for FERC market-based rate authority.

Specifically, Seminole Retail Energy Services intends to commence selling electric power to retail customers during 2014 in some or all of the following states: Maryland, New Jersey, Texas, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. Seminole Retail said that it seeks to be actively marketing and serving electricity customers in certain states by April 30, 2014

In January 2013, Jason Few, former President of Reliant Energy, was named President and CEO of Seminole Energy Services, LLC, the parent of Seminole Retail Energy Services.

Seminole Retail Energy Services currently supplies natural gas to large non-residential customers in nine states. Additionally, Seminole Retail wholly owns Lakeshore Energy Services, LLC, which is an active retail natural gas supplier in Michigan and Ohio. Lakeshore is expected to merge into Seminole Retail during the second quarter of 2014.

According to its website, Lakeshore Energy serves over 55,000 small business and residential customers and over 450 enterprise customers.

Seminole Energy Services, LLC also owns 65% of Vanguard Energy Services, which serves non-residential customers in Illinois

Seminole Energy Services, LLC, is also a large wholesale natural gas marketer, and serves over 1.6 million residential customer equivalents across twenty-three states. The company also is engaged in various midstream and producer services,
