American Efficient plans to bring retail electricity supply marketing to 2,000 brick-and-mortar retail storefronts and establishments in the next year.
American Efficient partners with retail stores and establishments, cafes, restaurants, barber shops, nail salons, as well as non-profits, to provide electric suppliers with a physical presence in such establishments.
American Efficient's "Go Good" program focuses on promoting renewable energy offers from electric suppliers, and links supplier offers and enrollment with a gift card or other incentive from the hosting retail establishment (with such incentives funded by American Efficient and the supplier).
American Efficient is currently working with retail establishments in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, the District of Columbia, and New Hampshire, and is working to expand to Ohio and Illinois.
Currently, American Efficient only promotes renewable electricity in its partnerships with retail establishments and suppliers. The offers need not be 100% renewable, but must have a meaningful amount of incremental renewable energy versus the renewable energy required of the default service product (about 10-20% more).
American Efficient is seeking to expand its program to natural gas.
The electric supplier offers are promoted in a variety of ways in the retail establishments, with the amount and form of marketing dependent on what the host establishment desires. Marketing can be as simple as a flyer or brochure, to more elaborate set-ups including tablets allowing customers to enroll with the supplier in real-time (provided that the customer has the necessary info, or is in a state facilitating such enrollments).
The materials push customers to an offer-specific landing webpage, through which the customer may enroll. The customer would then receive their gift card or incentive for the retail establishment, which may be a mailed card or certificate or an emailed certificate or voucher, depending on the retail establishment's capabilities.
For non-profits working with American Efficient, the enrollment incentive would be a donation or similar incentive.
Currently, American Efficient is only promoting a single supplier per retail establishment, as American Efficient CEO Ross Chanin told EnergyChoiceMatters.com that adding offers from multiple suppliers may be confusing to customers or dilute the message. However, American Efficient is testing multiple marketing methods and is open to expanding the service to provide offers from multiple suppliers.
American Efficient is currently working with about half a dozen suppliers, and specifically disclosed it is working with Oasis Energy.
American Efficient recently announced that it completed a $2.5 million Series A round of funding led by Clean Pacific Ventures. Chanin was a co-founder of Reputation.com, and a former member of the Kerry-Edwards speechwriting team.
