New Texas REP Launches Service, Files to Offer Prepaid Plan

Start-up Texas retail electric provider Pro Power Providers, LLC has recently launched service, and has now filed a statement of intent with the PUCT to provide retail electric services using a customer prepayment device or system

Pro Power Providers describes itself as employee-owned, and is led by CEO Chuck McArthur. Pro Power Providers recently entered into a multi-year agreement with DTE Energy for a structured supply arrangement and credit facility.

For residential customers at Oncor, Pro Power Providers currently lists on its website a 12-month fixed plan with an average all-in rate of 11.3¢/kWh (all average rates at 1,000 kWh usage). This reflects an energy charge of 7.0¢/kWh, plus a monthly base charge of $4.95, and a pass-through of TDU charges.

For residential customers at CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric, Pro Power Providers currently lists on its website a 12-month fixed plan with an average all-in rate of 12.4¢/kWh. This reflects an energy charge of 7.4¢/kWh, plus a monthly base charge of $4.95, and a pass-through of TDU charges.

The products include a $150 early termination fee.
