NRG To Use Cirro Energy Brand Outside of Texas

NRG Energy confirmed to EnergyChoiceMatters.com that it intends to use the Cirro Energy brand for retail energy offers outside of Texas, specifically in Pennsylvania.

NRG's Independence Energy Group LLC has filed at the Pennsylvania PUC to add the trade name Cirro Energy to its electric supplier certificate. NRG confirmed to EnergyChoiceMatters.com that it intends to sell under the Cirro brand in Pennsylvania, and had no definitive plans to expand Cirro to additional states.

While NRG would not comment on the specific market segment Cirro would target, the company told EnergyChoiceMatters.com that, "NRG Retail East believes there is a market for the products and services Cirro provides. NRG wants to be the energy provider to all customers and making Cirro available is one way to do that."

Current NRG retail brands active in Pennsylvania include NRG Home (full service/bundled energy services), Green Mountain Energy (renewable), and Energy Plus (affinity/rewards)
