Dynegy is expanding its retail business to two states organically, and moving into Texas would be beneficial, but would be secondary to more pressing balance sheet goals, Dynegy CEO Robert Flexon said during an earnings call

Asked by an analyst about retail growth, Flexon said, "the first and foremost goal is the balance sheet "

Flexon said that Dynegy's retail business in Illinois and Ohio is, "solid and growing." Last week, Dynegy touted that it is maintaining its "incumbent" retail position in Illinois, and seeking to expand municipal aggregation in Ohio to drive retail growth (see story here)

"We're moving into Pennsylvania and Massachusetts organically," Flexon said

Flexon added that, "it would be a nice add to our portfolio to add competitive retail around the generation assets, whether that's in ERCOT or up in the Northeast and we'll continue to look at what opportunities are there. But it can run in conflict with the balance sheet. But if we can do it, we will. But it's a second order of priority."
