Utility Expense Reduction, LLC has filed a letter with the New York PSC further clarifying its sought waiver of the PSC's prohibition on ESCO service to assistance program participant customers, and the product UER proposed to offer under the waiver
ESCOs may only serve APPs with a product that guarantees savings versus the utility (existing contracts are permitted until their expiration, as more fully discussed in prior stories)
Previous filings from UER were filed under seal, making this the first time its sought product has been publicly described
UER stated that, "If the Commission grants UER’s Petition, Assistance Program Participants (APPs) receiving electric and gas service from UER will pay no more than the default utility rate. Furthermore, in recognition of New York’s clean energy and environmental goals, APP customers receiving UER’s electric service will also be provided with a 100% renewable product that is compliant with the Commission’s Environmental Disclosure Program. Finally, if the Commission grants UER’s Petition, all existing APP customers served by UER will be immediately switched to these products upon approval."
