Texas Generator To Pay $10,000 Under Settlement With PUC Staff

Keechi Wind LLC would pay $10,000 under a settlement with Staff of the Public Utility Commission of Texas to resolve alleged violations of Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) Nodal Protocols § 3.21, relating to declarations of summer and winter weather preparedness

ERCOT Nodal Protocols § 3.21(4) states that, "No earlier than May 1 and no later than June 1 of each year, each Resource Entity shall submit the declaration in Section 22, Attachment K, to ERCOT stating that, at the time of submission, each Generation Resource under the Resource Entity's control has completed or will complete all weather preparations required by the weatherization plan for equipment critical to the reliable operation of the Generation Resource during the summer time period (June through September)..."

The settlement states that in an April 13, 2018 notice, Commission Staff notified Keechi that Staff alleged Keechi violated PURA § 39.151 by failing to submit the 2017 weatherization declaration by June 1, 2017.

The settlement states that Keechi did not submit its declaration of summer weather preparedness until July 24, 2017, 53 days beyond the due date.
