MeterGenius Seeks Retail Electric Supplier License (Gamification, Customer Engagement Company)

MeterGenius, Inc. has applied for an Illinois alternative retail electric supplier license to serve all customer classes at Commonwealth Edison

MeterGenius said that it also does business under the name Hero Power

MeterGenius is not licensed as an alternative retail electric supplier in any other jurisdiction

MeterGenius has hired retail energy veteran Ed Toppi to lead operations. Toppi's title is varyingly listed as COO and Vice President - Energy and Operations in appendices to the application. Toppi previously served as Vice President at Constellation NewEnergy. Most recently, Toppi has served as Vice President for Distributed Market Integration and Vice President, Retail Market Services at a vendor in the retail energy space.

EnergyChoiceMatters.com had exclusively reported earlier this year that MeterGenius has stated an intent to, "operate as a competitive retail electric supplier, engaging principally in the sale of electricity to end users."

Earlier this year, MeterGenius stated that, "We're trying to create a better retail electricity provider in Texas," and, "We're launching a new kind of energy company in 2019."

Also earlier this year, MeterGenius offered customers gift cards for participating in surveys concerning the retail electricity supply business

MeterGenius currently offers customers an app that allows users to earn points, redeemable for gift cards, smart devices, and more, for various behaviors and engagements undertaken by the customer.

The app also includes gamification with rewards for challenges and competitions

MeterGenius' app provides various energy usage information and energy saving tips to customers
