Retail Energy Supply Association Celebrates Second Annual National Energy Shopping Day

The Retail Energy Supply Association on June 21 celebrated the second annual National Energy Shopping Day (nationalenergyshoppingday.org)

RESA had noted at the creation of National Energy Shopping Day last year that the Day was created to educate consumers, regulators, and legislators on the benefits of retail choice

"An important part of American life is our right to make choices – from what we say, to where we live, and even what we purchase. However, when it comes to energy, not all Americans enjoy the same freedoms. Currently, only 13 states and Washington, D.C. allow consumers to choose how they cool their home or power their business," RESA said

"Just as consumers can shop for a mobile phone plan, they should also have the right to pick their power supplier. National Energy Shopping Day is a reminder for those who enjoy the freedom to select the energy plan that best suits their lives, families and even the environment. Equally important, it gives a voice to consumers who believe they, too, deserve the right to choose," RESA said

"A competitively priced retail market grants families, businesses and manufacturers the power to choose. Consumers can find energy solutions that are right for their needs and take control of their energy costs. In return, suppliers are more attentive to customer needs as they are eager to obtain – and maintain – their business. This ultimately spurs the creation of innovative energy solutions tailored to individual customers," RESA said
