License Briefs, 4/21/26

Axpo Receives Georgia Retail Supplier License

The Georgia PSC granted Axpo U.S. LLC a natural gas marketer certificate to serve commercial and industrial customers in all nine of the AGL Georgia primary delivery pool groups of Atlanta, Ex-Atlanta Southern, Ex-Atlanta Transco, Macon, Augusta, Brunswick, Rome, Valdosta, and Savannah. As is customary for new applicants under the Georgia PSC license process, the new certificate is an "interim" certificate as granted to other marketers. As previously reported, Axpo has entered various other U.S. natural gas markets itself, and also recently acquired American PowerNet Management, LP and APN Starfirst, LP

Georgia PSC Approves Changes In Green Mountain Energy's Marketer License Related To Green Mountain's Exit From Georgia Residential Market

The Georgia PSC approved various changes to the natural gas marketer certificate of Green Mountain Energy Company (GMEC) relating to GMEC's previously reported exit from the residential gas market in Georgia. The PSC: (1) approved a change in the name of the entity listed on the marketer certificate to NRG Business Marketing, LLC, (2) authorized NRG Business Marketing, LLC to continue to serve small Commercial customers, in addition to large Commercial, Industrial, and Interruptible customers, (3) approved NRG Business Marketing, LLC's request to be listed on the PSC's website as "Commercial Only", and (4) approved NRG Business Marketing, LLC's request that NRG Business Marketing, LLC be approved to not enroll any new Georgia Residential customers, but that NRG Business Marketing, LLC shall continue to serve its remaining Residential customers. NRG Business Marketing, LLC will, once service to legacy Georgia residential customers is complete, seek to withdraw its residential service authority in Georgia via a separate application. Multiple other NRG-owned retail suppliers continue to offer residential natural gas service in Georgia (specifically, Stream Energy and Xoom Energy had residential rates listed on the PSC's April monthly rate chart). See more background on Green Mountain's Georgia residential exit here.
