BP Energy to Pay $20,000 to Settle Ancillary Shortfall
BP Energy Company would pay $20,000 under a settlement with PUCT Staff to resolve allegations that BP was in violation of PURA § 39.1510 and P.U.C. Subst. R. 25.503(f)(2), concerning failure to adhere to Electric Reliability Council of Texas, Inc. (ERCOT) Protocol § 6.3.2(2), concerning ancillary service provider obligations on February 26, 2008. During the emergency event, Staff alleged that BP maintained insufficient ancillary service capacity in the amount of 13 megawatts (MW) during the interval of 18:45, and in the amount of 14 MW during the interval of 19:00.
