Direct Energy Cites Cross-Sell Potential in Completing Acquisition of Home Warranty of America

Direct Energy has finalized its previously reported acquisition of Home Warranty of America. The transaction gives Direct Energy the licenses and operating capabilities in all 50 states to offer protection plans to millions of U.S. households. This capability, together with the recently acquired operations of Clockwork Home Services, provides both service coverage and the ability to sell protection plans nationwide. "Importantly, HWA also provides us with the systems and operations to offer protection plans and services to our residential energy customers," said Eddy Collier, President of Direct Energy Services. "The potential for cross-sell opportunities further complements our North American strategy for growth."

FERC Dismisses FirstEnergy Solutions FTR Complaint to Allow Further Stakeholder Investigation

FERC dismissed without prejudice a complaint from FirstEnergy Solutions which had sought an order directing PJM to allocate incremental real-time congestion charges to all transmission customers (see 12/29). FERC dismissed the complaint in light of the absence of sufficient evidence as to the root cause of the Financial Transmission Right underfunding and PJM's commitment to develop a comprehensive report detailing the circumstances resulting in the FTR underfunding for stakeholder review and discussion.

Connecticut Light & Power Files New Charges for Retail Supplier Services

Connecticut Light & Power has filed increases in the cost of certain services provided to retail suppliers, such as customer lists, off-cycle reads, Supplier Rate Maintenance and Error Correction, and Extended Metering Options. The new costs may be found here
