Switch Holds Decline Significantly at CenterPoint, AEP Texas Central

The number of switch holds applicable to residential customers in ERCOT as part of entering into a deferred payment plan with a retail electric provider declined significantly during February, according to the latest reports filed with the PUCT.

A monthly snapshot of the current number of residential ESI IDs subject to a switch hold from June 2011 through February 2012 is available here.

CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric saw the number of residential ESI IDs subject to a switch hold decrease by about 1,000, to 13,200, or 0.689% of residential ESI IDs.

The decline of 1,000 residential ESI IDs is the largest monthly decrease in the number residential ESI IDs subject to a switch hold for any territory since the introduction of switch holds in June 2011.

AEP Texas Central also saw the number of residential ESI IDs subject to a switch hold decrease by just under 1,000, to 5,950, or 0.870% of residential ESI IDs. The decline has brought switch holds back under 1% of residential ESI IDs at AEP Texas Central.

AEP Texas North and Texas-New Mexico Power also saw the number of residential ESI IDs subject to a switch hold decline during February, continuing the trend from prior months.

During February, Oncor saw the number of residential ESI IDs subject to a switch hold increase marginally, by 76, but the percent of residential ESI IDs subject to a switch hold in the territory remains just 0.77%.

Overall, switch holds still apply to less than 1% of residential ESI IDs in ERCOT since the introduction of switch holds in June 2011.
