Gulf Oil has launched residential and commercial electric supply plans in Maine.
The expansion to Maine, which had been first reported by Matters, follows Gulf Electricity's launch in Connecticut earlier this year.
Specifically, in Maine, Gulf Electricity offers electric supply at Central Maine Power and Bangor Hydro-Electric.
In each service area, Gulf Electricity is currently offering a variable rate of 6.99 cents per kWh for residential customers. A fixed rate of 6.99 cents per kWh is also available.
Gulf Oil and affiliate Cumberland Farms have 102 gas stations and convenience stores in Maine.
Customers enrolling by the end of the year will be entered into a contest with one grand prize winner receiving a year of free Gulf Electricity, and four monthly winners receiving a month of free Gulf Electricity.
"More than one million customers pass through a facility supplied or branded by Gulf every day and we look forward to providing yet another valuable service to them," said Gulf Oil's Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Rick Dery.
"Our network of Gulf-branded outlets and company operated Cumberland Farms convenience stores in Maine, along with our expertise in sourcing and distributing energy efficiently, makes this expansion a natural complement to our existing businesses," added Gulf Oil President Ron Sabia.
The expansion of Gulf Electricity into Maine is part of the company's ongoing strategy to diversify its energy offerings and provide the marketplace with cost-effective, efficient energy options, the company said.
