Constellation Energy, through its StarTex Power subsidiary, has acquired a book of Texas electric customers from a retail electric provider which is exiting the market.
Specifically, StarTex Power acquired the customers remaining with En-Touch Systems, Inc, d/b/a En-Touch Energy as En-Touch Energy winds down operations as a retail electric provider.
En-Touch Energy said that it began operating as a REP to, "provide a unique service to a very discreet group of customers in the Houston metropolitan area," -- including certain developments as part of service bundles offered by En-Touch (internet, digital TV, phone, etc.).
"At this point, En-Touch Energy has determined that retail electric service options exist in the market that can meet the needs of these customers at least as equally as they can be met by En-Touch Energy," En-Touch said in a filing to voluntarily relinquish its Texas REP certificate.
Throughout the recent months, En-Touch Energy said that it has been educating its customers on the options available to them in the retail electric market. "Based on these customer communications, many customers chose to select favorable plans with other retail electric providers," En-Touch said.
For customers who did not affirmatively switch, however, En-Touch assigned such customers to StarTex Power on October 1.
