A law firm is seeking litigants for a potential class action suit against a Texas retail provider.
"Watts Guerra Craft believes that TXU and/or its affiliates may have knowingly overcharged certain residential electricity customers at commercial rates," Watts Guerra Craft alleged in a news release yesterday.
"TXU's rate-overcharging practices may have affected thousands of unsuspecting Texas residential electricity consumers," Watts Guerra Craft alleged.
TXU Energy provided the following statement to Matters: "TXU Energy is firmly committed to complying with all legal and regulatory requirements and goes to great lengths to inform and educate our customers about charges and fees included in their bills. We are proud of our compliance record and we do not believe there is any merit to the allegations in the press release. If customers have any questions about their charges, they should call TXU Energy so that we may promptly look into their concerns."
Watts Guerra Craft alleged that, "Numerous complaints have been filed with the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUC) regarding the TXU rate overcharging in Dallas County and beyond."
Watts Guerra Craft specifically sought litigants that have been charged on a commercial rate plan for home electrical service, including the TXU General Service Plan, Business Classic Rate Plan, Partner Advantage Rate Plan, or Business Advantage Rate Plan.
