Direct Energy Launches Residential Service in New Territory

Direct Energy recently began offering residential natural gas service at Peoples Gas in Illinois.

Similar to Nicor Gas (which Direct Energy also recently re-entered as only reported by Matters, click here), Direct Energy's new residential offer at Peoples Gas is actually a return to active marketing in the territory, which Direct Energy first entered in 2005, but Direct ceased active marketing to new customers at Peoples in mid-2006

Direct Energy is offering Peoples Gas residential customers an 18-month fixed rate of 53.9¢ per therm, with no cancellation fee.

Direct Energy's intent to re-launch residential marketing at Peoples Gas was first reported by Matters this summer. At that time, Direct Energy said that it was planning to actively re-enter the North Shore Gas market as well, though no North Shore residential offer is available yet.
