The Connecticut PURA has issued a Notice of Violation against Verde Energy USA concerning Verde's compliance with the quarterly notice required to be sent to customers.
Noting that Verde has no past violations concerning its electric supplier license, the NOV would fine Verde $5,000
The NOV is not final and may be appealed by Verde.
PURA alleges that Verde's quarterly notices did not require two pieces of information which PURA says is required.
First, PURA alleges that Verde did not include the following language, "Under your current service plan with Verde you paid $___ for the generation portion of that bill".
PURA additionally alleges Verde did not include a table comparing its generation rate and cost to the utility's default service rate and cost
In response to PURA inquiries, PURA states that Verde responded, "it used Form 1 in the [PURA] Final Decision as a guide for its quarterly notice and that it communicated all statutorily required information to its customers clearly and effectively – taking into consideration its business relationships with its customers."
Verde additionally provided the following statement to EnergyChoiceMatters.com:
"Verde upholds its position that it fully complied with C.G.S.A. § 16-245d (d) & the Final Decision in Docket No. 13-07-18. While the Final Decision does not contain enforceable regulations, Verde does not object to incorporating the specified narrative into future quarterly mailings in order to allay the PURA's concerns."
