CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric (CNP) has suspended Disconnect for Non-Payment Orders, across its entire service area, in response to the City of Houston's Boil Water Notice.
"Based upon the City of Houston's Boil Water notice and in the interest of public safety, CNP is suspending Disconnect for Non-Payment Orders for our entire system until further notice. In addition to this immediate suspension we will also be attempting to R/C any account that was previously disconnected today," CNP said in a Nov. 28 market notice
Local media reports suggest that final boil water notice may not be lifted until 3 a.m. Nov. 29
In addition to city residents, the City supplies wholesale water to various other jurisdictions
On Nov. 27, the city's water agency stated that, "the water pressure dropped below the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality’s required minimum of 20 PSI during a power outage at the East Water Purification Plant on Sunday, November 27, at 10:30 am," prompting the boil water notice
CNP stated in the notice that the Disconnect for Non-Payment Order Suspension will remain in effect through at least 9:00 AM on Tuesday, November 29, 2022.
As possible, accounts that were Disconnected for Non-Payment this morning (Nov. 28) have been Reconnected, CNP said in the notice
"Once the suspension is lifted, and as needed, CNP will provide a list to CRs [competitive retailers] of impacted accounts that will require an R/C transaction for synchronization purposes," CNP said in the notice
